Karva Chauth 2020

Karva Chauth is a 1- day festival celebrated on the fourth day after Purnima in the Kartika Month. Here Karva means a 'pot' and 'Chauth' means the 'fourth day'. On this day Married women observes fasting from sunrise to moonrise for the good health and longevity of husbands.

The Karwa Chauth 2020 puja muhurat is from 5.34 pm to 6.52 pm on November 4, Wednesday. Moonrise is on this day is at 8.12 pm.

Wives breaks the fast only by first looking at the rising moon through sieve and then their husbands.

If you do not see the Moon on Karva Chauth, you can see the Moon on Lord Shiva's head, though some people pour holy water in the direction of Moon rise to break the fast of the Karva Chauth.

It is considered inauspicious to give milk, curd, rice or white cloth to anyone before worshipping the Moon on this day by Married Women. This Fast reflects the dedication, faithfulness and devotion of Indian Women.
